Steckle Heritage Farm hosts its first annual Winter Fun Day on Family Day.
Family Day will bring a Winter Fun Day to Steckle Heritage Farm. The event will focus on old fashioned winter fun for the family from 10am to 2pm. The event is free of charge, and will have many activities for the family such as sleigh rides, snow sculpture, crafts and visiting with our animals. A highlight of the event will be having two talented local story tellers of the Baden Storytellers Guild sharing their tales in the Honey House beside the fireplace at 11am and 1pm. Our guest storytellers are Carolyn Wilker, storyteller and author of Once Upon a Sandbox and Derek Brisland, sharing Frog and Toad stories. Our gentle slope will be set up for tobogganing so don’t forget to pack your equipment. You are also welcome to try out snowshoes and cross-country skis at this free winter event. Hot chocolate and snacks will be available for a small charge.

The annual UpTown Waterloo Comedy Festival is back. International award winning stand-up comics, over three nights at three different venues. Newly added this year a family variety show featuring world class clowns, jugglers and a Guiness World Record holding yo-yo champion. Festival Passes are once again available...tickets are limited.

Held at the end of May, this annual non-profit festival celebrates the art and tradition of quilts and quilting. Billed as the largest of its kind in Canada, the festival consist of 40 events in 10 communities. A raffle is held in conjunction with the festival. The lucky winner receives an exquisite handmade quilt. Workshops and seminars are offered.

The annual Nonviolence Festival Day in the Park brings together community groups, vendors, entertainers and the public for food, a free concert, and fun in the summer sun.
There are crafts and carnival games for kids, and an area of meditation and reflection.

Free Blues Festival held at Civic Square in front of Kitchener City Hall. A family friendly event featuring authentic BBQ food, a large beer garden and a wide variety of vendors. The main street is closed to traffic for several blocks in an around City Hall.

Joy and magic for the whole family!
A time to celebrate and experience the richness and diversity of the African and Caribbean culture through three stages of live musical entertainment, cultural DJs and various vendor displays of arts, crafts and foods. Attractions include demonstrations, children’s activities, games, races, face-painting, a carnival costume parade, a limbo contest as well as drumming and steelpan workshops. Bring your drums and percussion instruments; no experience required! Admission is free, everyone is invited and there’s ample free parking.
Also, prepare for the festival with free workshops and attend mas camp to choose your costume for the parade.
Volunteers, vendors and sponsors welcome.

Kimglow farm offers a unique family event during the last weekend of September and every weekend in October. They have 14 acres of pick-your-own pumpkins. Plus 16 fun activities, including hay rides, haunted barn, clown shows, corn mazes,a petting zoo and much more. The farm is beautifully decorated for fall with mum flowers, corn stacks, and pumpkins, it is a perfect place for family photos.
